
SINGAPORE, 1 October 2004 – Leading IT services provider CrimsonLogic today announced that its trade certification system, CertofOrigin, has been awarded the eAsia Award in Trade Facilitation Excellence by the Asia Pacific Council for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (AFACT). This award category honours projects with a balance between governmental legislation, enhancement of international trade and eBusiness, as well as information visibility by evaluating the concrete effects on customs control and security, trade promotion and business efficiency. The eASIA Award was presented on 24th September at the 2004 eASIA Week in Chinese Taipei.
CrimsonLogic was also recognised in the 2003 eASIA Week where its flagship project, TradeNet™, was awarded the eAsia Award in Trade Facilitation Excellence.

CertOfOrigin is the world's first end-to-end web-based Certification of Origin (COO) application and certification system, providing a single interface for exporters and their agents to apply for a COO. The system enables the Authorised Organisations (AO) to approve COO applications, as well as the documents required to authenticate the origin of the goods traded online securely and conveniently. The entire process, from COO application by exporters and their agents to receipt of approved COO by the Customs officers and other trading partners in the importing country, can be completed in an electronic environment, bringing multiple benefits to the trading community.
The eASIA Award honours outstanding achievements of eBusiness implementation in the Asia Pacific region to the world. Entries were submitted for four main categories: Trade Facilitation, eBusiness in the Public Sector, eBusiness in the Private Sector and “Bridging the Digital Divide.” The evaluation committee chooses companies based on several criteria. Among the criteria is the projects' commitment and relevance to globalisation and trade facilitation in AFACT member countries, which currently boasts 16 economies in the Asia Pacific.
AFACT, organiser of eASIA Award, is a non-profit organisation which aims to promote the commitment and development of trade facilitation, electronic business policies and activities in the Asia Pacific region. AFACT is open to participation from the representatives of member countries and experts from private sectors within the Asia-Pacific region. Currently, there are 16 economies and 1 associate member in AFACT, including Australia , Chinese Taipei, India , Indonesia , Iran , Japan , Korea , Malaysia , Mongolia , PRC, Pakistan , Philippines , Singapore , Sri Lanka , Thailand , Vietnam and ebXML Asia Committee.
