IHP Joins Forces with CrimsonLogic to Launch FlexiClaims

New outpatient claims processing system provides clinics, corporations and insurance agencies efficient management of medical information

Singapore, 22 May 2002 - Managed healthcare company, Integrated Health Plans (IHP), and leading applications service provider, CrimsonLogic, team up to launch the latest outpatient claims processing system known as FlexiClaims. The web-based system streamlines operations and increases the overall efficiency of corporations, managed healthcare organizations, insurance companies and clinics.

Developed and managed by CrimsonLogic, FlexiClaims automates the outpatient claims process and promotes the efficient management of patient information including medical benefit entitlement and detailed visitation records.

IHP is the first managed healthcare organisation to use FlexiClaims. The system enables its panel of 300 clinics to access the data of 80,000 employees from 500 companies.

With FlexiClaims, HR personnel can peg different schemes to different employees anytime, anywhere without prior notice to the managed healthcare organisation. This immediate update of schemes translates to staff using their amended entitlements within 24 hours.

The FlexiClaims solution doubles up as a repository of information promoting the better management of staff medical benefits and records. HR personnel can print reports for reference and analysis whenever required.

With FlexiClaims, insurance companies can take advantage of the streamlined and automated claims process to cut the average processing time from months to days. This efficient claims processing system means quicker response to customers and better quality of service delivery.

By further outsourcing this entire function, including helpdesk support, to the experts, insurance companies can save on investment and administrative costs. In addition, the time saved allows them to focus on their core competencies.

For clinics, the seamless exchange of information through FlexiClaims means faster access to patients' records for verification of their entitlements. The electronic claims process, which replaces the traditional manual billing system, also translates to a shorter payment period and better overall cash-flow management. IHP's panel of clinics will, therefore, be paid twice instead of the usual once a month.

Said, Dr Chin Koy Nam, Director of IHP, "FlexiClaims will transform the way business functions are performed in the healthcare industry. IHP is constantly seeking new business solutions to promote greater efficiencies for our corporate clients and medical service providers."

As FlexiClaims is a scalable and flexible solution, it is not limited for use in Singapore alone. It permits managed healthcare companies such as IHP to expand their services and connectivity beyond the local scene into the international arena.

"With FlexiClaims, large international organisations need only hook up to one managed healthcare giver with links to international clinics. The potential in this area is huge especially for IHP who is the first user of the system," said Mr V Mathivanan, chief executive officer, CrimsonLogic.

He added, "What makes FlexiClaims more attractive is that the clinic and HR users need not bear the huge upfront investment costs. In fact, FlexiClaims is a cost-effective solution based on an application service provider (ASP) model. So, all that's needed by a clinic and a corporation is a PC with Internet access."

Patient information and records are hosted, managed and exchanged through a secure network at CrimsonLogic headquarters at Science Park 2. The strict verification and authentication procedures protect the integrity and confidentiality of patients' medical histories, diagnosis and more. CrimsonLogic also provides 24-hour technical support, 7 days a week and disaster recovery facilities.
