CrimsonLogic is one of over 100 companies worldwide to achieve highest maturity model of software process appraisal
SINGAPORE, 23 May 2006 – Leading IT solutions provider CrimsonLogic Pte Ltd has become the first Singapore-based company to achieve the Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI®) Maturity Level 5, the highest maturity level for the appraisal.
The CMMI®, developed by the Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute, is a globally recognized model for quality process improvement and is awarded to organizations with good quality software and mature processes.
With its rigorous standards, the CMMI® not only assesses a company by its constant strengthening of software engineering processes, but also by its risk management strategies and structured decision-making processes. It also ensures that CMMI®-recognized organizations facilitate the effective integration of people capability maturity aspects (i.e. reviewing a company’s knowledge, skills and process abilities and incorporating human capital and human resources with process and technology) with the software engineering discipline.
A team led by a Carnegie Mellon Software Engineering Institute-authorized lead appraiser conducted the appraisal of CrimsonLogic in January 2006 using the Standard CMMI® Appraisal Method for Process Improvement (SCAMPI). As CrimsonLogic’s structured plan showed continued and measurable software process improvement in three key areas - Defect Prevention, Organizational Innovation and Deployment, and Process Change Management, CrimsonLogic was awarded the CMMI® Maturity Level 5. Besides the CMMI®, in 2003 CrimsonLogic was assessed at Software Capability Maturity Model (SW-CMM) Level 3 Assessment.
With this achievement of CMMI® Maturity Level 5, CrimsonLogic and Singapore joins an elite group of over 100 companies worldwide that have achieved this rare distinction.
Said Mr. Leong Peng Kiong, Chief Executive Officer of CrimsonLogic: “With quality as one of our corporate values, CrimsonLogic continuously seeks to improve and maintain world-class standards in its operations across the globe. Our passion for quality has made it possible for us to achieve the highest possible Maturity Level of CMMI®. Naturally, this will raise customers’ expectations of CrimsonLogic. This will encourage us to strive harder to adhere to quality standards and processes, which we believe, are critical components for competitive success.”
Adds Mr. Kenneth Lim Khoon Seng, Vice President for Technology Development Department and Trade & Logistics Business Unit: “While we are mature in the use of internet web technologies and our active participation in global standards such as UN/CEFACT, AFACT, OASIS, W3C and RosettaNet, the CMMI® model gives us a robust framework to continuously sharpen our development process and to serve our customers better.”
CMMI® is registered in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office by Carnegie Mellon University.
