Singapore PKI Technology Centre aims to promote a secure eCommerce environment through the development and adoption of interoperable PKI
Singapore, 30 October 2002 - The PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) Forum Singapore and CrimsonLogic today announced the launch of the Singapore PKI Technology Centre or SPTC, to provide companies and PKI vendors a platform to conduct testing of their PKI applications and technologies.
The SPTC is set up with the aim to promote the development and adoption of PKI in Singapore. The objectives of the SPTC are:
The SPTC is open, at no cost, to any local company or enterprise that wants to adopt PKI technology for its applications and/or business transactions.
Said PKI Forum Singapore Chairman and CEO of SingTel Mobile, Mr Lucas Chow, “The SPTC offers a ready PKI trial environment for businesses without them having to incur high initial hardware and software investment costs.
“Through the use of the SPTC facilities, businesses can better understand the benefits of PKI and have a good estimate of the amount of investment and resources required for its deployment in their organisations.
“By making PKI testing facilities more accessible, it also encourages the development of the technology and new PKI-based applications,” added Mr Chow.
CrimsonLogic has been appointed by the PKI Forum Singapore as the operator of the SPTC, which is located at CrimsonLogic's premises.
“CrimsonLogic has accumulated a great wealth of experience and knowledge in the PKI arena in the past 3 years. In addition to the facilities provided by the SPTC, we can value-add to the SPTC users by providing proven advice on their PKI experimental projects,” says Mr V Mathivanan, Chief Executive Officer of CrimsonLogic.
The company has developed and managed the technical operations of the internal Certificate Authority for the Singapore Supreme Court, as well as the technical operations of Singapore's first certified national Certificate Authority, ID.Safe.
Says Mr Mathivanan, “Together with RadianTrust, we can also offer PKI consultation, implementation, hosting and maintenance services to assist organisations in securing their applications.”
RadianTrust, the security spin-off of CrimsonLogic, is managing the operations of the SPTC. As an IT security service provider, RadianTrust is able to leverage on its business focus to provide close-to-market support for the SPTC.
RadianTrust offers end-to-end security services to governments and businesses. These services include information security, enterprise security management, application security and PKI consulting.
