Success Story - logecis

“Whilst the Law Society prides itself in providing continual legal education seminars and workshops of consistently high standard, our portal, which I believe is the first of its kind for the legal profession in South East Asia, represents a quantum leap forward in learning methodology,”
Mr Palakrishnan, former President of Law Society.

The Law Society of Singapore is the professional body representing all lawyers in private practice and certain specified statutory boards. One of the objectives of the Society is to facilitate the acquisition of legal knowledge by members of the legal profession.

The Law Society’s governing council and its Continuing Professional Development Committee are constantly searching for innovative and cost-effective ways of enabling lawyers to enhance and upgrade their knowledge and understanding of the law and their professional skills.

“The traditional method of lectures or seminars has many drawbacks. In particular, adult learners such as busy lawyers may not be able to attend the lectures or seminars they want because of work commitments.  Morever, it is unlikely to market these courses overseas as the participants would have to travel to Singapore.  Hence, the target audience is limited” said Senior Minister of State (Law & Home affairs) Associate Professor Ho Peng Kee.

The Law Society recognised the potential benefits of using the internet to deliver legal education to its busy members.

“What we want to do is to allow lawyers to maximise their time. They can attend seminars online, in the middle of the night, or on weekends without paying a huge price,” said Mr Palakrishnan, former President of the Law Society.

CrimsonLogic’s end-to-end eLearning solution, Logecis, is an ideal fit for the law Society’s eLearning portal, CLEOnline.

“This new portal overcomes these limitations,” Associate Professor Ho continued. “Now, any one in the world will be able to sign up for courses by accessing the Law Society’s website.”

Crimsonlogic’s team of instructional designers worked with a number of senior lawyers and academics including Senior Counsel, Mr Philip Jeyaretnam on the “Art of Cross Examination” and Senior Counsel, Mr Tan Tee Jim on “Intellectual Property in eCommerce Law”.   Following the Logecis benchmarked process, CrimsonLogic continues to produce quality courses designed to suit lawyers and other professionals.

“Whilst the Law Society prides itself in providing continual legal education seminars and workshops of consistently high standard, our portal, which I believe is the first of its kind for the legal profession in South East Asia, represents a quantum leap forward in learning methodology,” added Mr Palakrishnan, former President of Law Society.
