Established in 2001, Parwani and Co. is a boutique law firm with two lawyers and three full time support staff. Parwani and Co. specialises in civil and commercial litigation, arbitration, corporate matters, conveyancing and family law.
UnLike medium and large firms with more manpower and more resources, the challenge for us is to continue to offer our clients top notch legal services while working with limited resources. Small firms like us will have to constantly differentiate ourselves and increase our services standards.
Although we pride ourselves in meeting our client’s needs with speed and accuracy, we found that subscribing to the Electronic Filing System (EFS) gave us even more time with our clients. Setting up EFS also proved to be really simple and low-cost.
“As I already had a PC and my fax machine doubled up as a scanner, all I needed was the smart card reader.” Enthused Mr Vijai Parwani, Managing Partner.
With speed being critical in all aspects of legal work, I found that with EFS, my support staff were more productively when they were preparing documents. I also saved more time preparing my cases as I no longer need to travel to and fro the service bureau to file documents.
“It makes economic sense to use the EFS since filing at the bureau is costlier. In addition, the cut-off time at the bureau does not apply to me as long as I file the document before midnight of the same day; it is as good as filing the documents at the bureau by 4 pm.”
Mr Pawani said “I retrieve the documents much faster from my system than from the bureau. Technology makes a difference. The speed of filing and retrieving documents is now the same whether it is a one-man show or the largest law firm, and in these days, clients appreciate that.”
